thunder in november

Thunder in November was a special event to launch a new, year long community gardening and art project, in November 2019.

We presented new artwork and interventions from artists Ian Watson and Tim Bromage, a free feast cooked on our fire pit and the chance to chat to head gardener Emma Geliot and get information on how to take part in the community gardening sessions.

Emma Geliot has been appointed to lead our gardening project (more info here on our Community page), transforming our yard space into an urban oasis with public sessions offering the chance to take part in growing fruit, flowers, vegetables and plants. Emma runs regular sessions on Sundays where anyone is welcome to come along, help out, learn how to grow, and once things start to appear, share the harvests!

Ian Watson is an artist based in Cardiff, Currently working from g39 as part of their Fellowship programme, facilitated by Freelands Foundation. Ian will be showing 'Pylons & Spires', the first in a series of narrative pieces drawing from weird fiction, sci-fi and folklore to reflect upon life on earth from an oblique perspective. The work will be added to over time. This is it's first public showing.

Tim Bromage is a performance artist and writer based in Cardiff. His practice draws upon a number of areas of interest, including stage magic and folk traditions. Props and costume are combined with song, text and other activities creating strange rituals.

This project was generously funded by the Wales Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust.
